Select the numbers before the draw, then read the paytable for that exact number of selections and risk setting. A small number of matches may pay differently across configurations. Counting matches without checking the applicable row of the table can give the wrong impression of a result.
What to check
The next draw does not inherit a preference for numbers absent from the last one. Use the recorded selection and draw when checking a completed round. Changing the number of picks can change the whole table, not just one multiplier.
